Beam erection has started for the Tieli-Yichun section of the Harbin-Yichun High-Speed Railway, China's northernmost high-speed railway in Heilongjiang province. This section is 111.4 kilometers long, with bridges accounting for 26.9 percent of its total length. Crossing permafrost regions, the Harbin-Yichun railway will total 300 km with a designed speed of 250 km per hour. The new high-speed rail will help build a three-hour commuting circle centering on Harbin and further improve the high-speed railway network in Northeast China.
