State Council inspects online government service platforms

In order to improve government services and bring more convenience to the public, the State Council has conducted a national inspection on internet-based government service platforms of local governments. The results are as follows:

A total of 201 online platforms were randomly selected, including 30 at provincial levels, 42 at city levels and 129 at county and district levels. Basic functions such as search, registration and inquiry were among items to be evaluated to gauge their effectiveness, and service items that are closely related to people’s lives were also checked.

The inspection showed that more than 80 percent of basic functions on the websites for Beijing, Tianjin, Shanghai, Zhejiang, Shandong, Guangdong and Hainan were available, and more than 80 percent of the service items on the websites for Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Shandong, Guangdong, Guizhou and Ningxia were more regulated, practical and accurate.

Although progress has been made, problems remain, such as lack of unified service access, lack of sharing information about government affairs, incomplete platform functions and inaccurate service information, according to the State Council.

Based on the inspection results, the State Council urged all regions and departments to further improve the construction of their platforms, by publishing their service information more accurately and in detail, and updating the information in a timely manner, and to carry out self-inspections.

All regions and departments should by the end of this year report their self-inspection results to the State Council, which will then randomly check their revised work and publish the assessment results.
