China cracks down on food, medicine, environment-related crimes

BEIJING — China's Ministry of Public Security (MPS) has recently expanded its channels for sourcing clues on food, medicine and environment-related crimes from the public.

The ministry on Sept 24 released the telephone number, e-mail and address of provincial public security departments on its official website and encouraged the public to contact them should they have any information regarding the aforementioned activities.

By extensively sourcing clues from the public, the ministry aims to beef up its efforts in cracking down on such criminal activities, consistent with the goal of a law enforcement campaign it launched in late July.

The ministry also urged all provincial public security departments to release the contact information of local city and county-level public security departments under their jurisdiction.
