BEIJING — State Councilor Wang Yong has emphasized efforts to develop programs for people with disabilities and improve their lives.

Wang made the remarks on July 22 during a work conference on the development of programs for people with disabilities.

Wang urged greater efforts to implement a new five-year plan for the protection and development of people with disabilities, consolidate the achievements made in poverty alleviation for the disabled, and launch a three-year campaign to promote their employment.

He also demanded strengthened services in disability prevention, rehabilitation and accessibility, adding that the country will make every effort to prepare for the upcoming Beijing Winter Paralympic Games.
